About the Doula
Elisha Hanshue
(She/her)
As a doula, I advocate for and support birth in all forms. Birth is an individualized experience, and you deserve support that meets you exactly where you are in your journey. I strongly stand behind the notion that everyone is worthy of a positive and empowering birth experience. I wish to achieve this by educating, advocating, & cheering you on through all stages of your pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.
My journey into doula work
As early as I can remember, I knew my future career would include healthcare, babies, or a mix of both. I also knew that I wanted to work intimately with people and utilize my empathy. When I learned about what a doula was, my heart immediately clung on to the idea that I was made to do it. Guiding people through one of the most life-changing and magical events of their life seemed like a dream come true. I did my first doula training in 2019 and was captivated. It wasn't until my career as a hospice CNA shortly after that my desire to dive into doula work was solidified.
In my position, I felt like I was getting away from the initial draw I had coming into a healthcare provider job - it was structured to be impersonal. I realized there is a missing piece for so many people going through life-altering events; especially birth. I whole-heartedly believe the system needs to restructure around the whole human condition and be people facing at the core level. I truly believe the experiences I gained as a hospice CNA primed me to be a better birthworker. I am humbled to be a part of the change and reclamation of birth, autonomy, and our voices. Being a doula has reshaped my mind and heart for the better.

Outside of being a doula...
I love spending my time reconnecting with nature, seeing live music, going to comedy shows, listening to all the podcasts, thrifting, spending time with my fur baby and partner, and going to new coffee shops! I have many interests and love learning new things, especially when I can apply them to my career as doula.
